A bookclub in Australia read The Weight of Shadows and asked if they could send me some interview questions. I love interacting with book clubs and was happy to oblige--but I really prefer talking in person rather than just emailing a bunch of text. We tried to work out a Skype interview, but the time difference--whoooee! So I decide to do something I've been wanting to do for awhile anyway--videotape an interview that I can post for bookclubs to watch after reading the book. Rel's club asked some great questions, and I asked Rel if she'd mind me sharing "her" bookclub's interview with the world--and she said sure. So, for your viewing pleasure, check out the four-part interview videos on The Weight of Shadows (and be forewarned, there are spoilers, so don't watch if you haven't read the book yet). It's completely unedited (except for the hacking-it-into-segments editing), unrehearsed, and unscripted, so you get the rambly, forgetful, sometimes-loses-words-in-her-head Alison that you'd get if I was right in your living room. :) I was hoping to do something more "professional" eventually--but you tell me, would you prefer something polished or something off-the-cuff?
Each segment is 7-9 minuts in length--the entire interview is just under 32 minutes. Forgive the weird lighting changes--I'm facing a window and the clouds moved in at one point, and I think my computer's screen must have gone to sleep because there's a weird moment where the light changes really suddenly. The joys of filming yourself in your office! :)
