On the airwaves

Dan and I just scheduled our first radio interview for our children's book, That's Where God Is. Turn into your local American Family Radio station next Wednesday for Alex McFarland's show. We'll be talking about how to pass on the Christian worldview to young children. It'll be live, and they'll be doing giveaways of the book, too. Our segment is at 4:15 EST and we'll be on for 45 minutes. Woot! (And eek! It's been a looong time since I've done radio. I'm nervous already. Pray for us!)

And the winner is...

Madeleine, who commented on Pamela's blog! Congratulations Madeleine! (And how fitting, given her name! If you don't know why, you'll have to read the book. :)

Madeleine gets her choice of either a $20 gift card to her favorite bookstore or signed copies of my first three novels. Watch this space for more contests, coming soon!

Video interview!

A bookclub in Australia read The Weight of Shadows and asked if they could send me some interview questions. I love interacting with book clubs and was happy to oblige--but I really prefer talking in person rather than just emailing a bunch of text. We tried to work out a Skype interview, but the time difference--whoooee! So I decide to do something I've been wanting to do for awhile anyway--videotape an interview that I can post for bookclubs to watch after reading the book. Rel's club asked some great questions, and I asked Rel if she'd mind me sharing "her" bookclub's interview with the world--and she said sure. So, for your viewing pleasure, check out the four-part interview videos on The Weight of Shadows (and be forewarned, there are spoilers, so don't watch if you haven't read the book yet). It's completely unedited (except for the hacking-it-into-segments editing), unrehearsed, and unscripted, so you get the rambly, forgetful, sometimes-loses-words-in-her-head Alison that you'd get if I was right in your living room. :) I was hoping to do something more "professional" eventually--but you tell me, would you prefer something polished or something off-the-cuff?

Each segment is 7-9 minuts in length--the entire interview is just under 32 minutes. Forgive the weird lighting changes--I'm facing a window and the clouds moved in at one point, and I think my computer's screen must have gone to sleep because there's a weird moment where the light changes really suddenly. The joys of filming yourself in your office! :)

Blog Tour Wrap-Up

I hope you've been reading along with the blog tour we've been on for the last month. There were some great reviews--the book got four-and-a-half cups of tea at Rundpinne, glowing reviews at Busy Moms Who Love to Read, The Review Stew, Hi, I'm Meg, A Musing Reviews and Ragamuffin Diva, Reading at the Beach; and very thorough overviews and reviews at Hippy Housewife, Just One More ParagraphBlack and Gold Girl's Book Spot, Devereaux Court, The Adventures of our Family of Five, Arms of a Sister, and The Leen. Some fellow writers and passionate readers posted interviews that might be of interest to those of you pursuing your own writing dreams-- Patti (though you'll have to go to the June archives to find it), Evie, Mason, Camy, June, Rachel, Megan, Mimi, and Jen.

Many of these bloggers are still giving away copies of the book, so if you don't have it yet and have decided you'd like to give it a try, then check out their posts and leave a comment to win.

And I am doing my own giveaway! One July 18th I'm going to choose one commenter from all the comments left on the various blog tour posts. That winner will receive their choice of all three copies of my current releases--signed, of course!--or a $20 gift card to your favorite bookstore. So go do some blog reading--maybe you'll find a great new blog to follow!

Enjoying the tour?

I hope you've taken a few minutes to stop over to the blogs that have been featuring The Weight of Shadows this past week. There have been some fun interview questions and great reviews of the book. And don't forget a lot of the bloggers are giving away free books and that I'm doing a contest on the 18th that is open only to those who left comments on blog tour posts. Get reading!
